Overview:

Non-linear editing facilities often need to route a variety of signalformats into and out of their editing system. The Sierra NLE™multi-level, multi-format routing switcher offers that level offlexibility and much more. Designed specifically for small to mid-sizednon-linear editing facilities routing multiple formats, the 8x8 and16x16 NLE switchers can be configured to include HD-SDI/SDI multi-ratevideo, SDI-only video, AES/EBU digital audio, analog video and/ or Y/C,RGB/YUV, and analog stereo audio, with optional RS-422 machine controlin a separate 1RU frame.

  The Sierra NLE switcher is designed to allow each level of a singleinput or output to be used independently for various formats. If aSierra NLE switcher is fully configured with all 7 levels installed, auser can connect some combination of up to three video signals (analogvideo which takes up one level, s-Video (YC) which takes up two levels,component video (YUV) or RGB video, both of which take up three levels)to the video levels of any input. They can also simultaneously connectan SDI video signal, an AES/EBU digital audio signal and either abalanced stereo audio signal or two mono audio signals to the sameinput. In the Sierra NLE routing switcher, each level of an input canbe switched independently or in conjunction with any combination of theother levels on that input to the corresponding level of anycombination of the outputs. That is multi-format, multi-level switching.
